People For most of us Filipinos, our families, which in many cases are so extended that they may rightfully be called clans, are still at the center of our worlds. Yet, how many of us know our family histories? Who were our ancestors? Who are our relatives? What did they look like? What were their beliefs, their values, their customs and traditions? What did they do? How did they live? We need to know the answers to these questions because we have to know where we came from in order to know who we are and where we are going. All in all, there are ninety million of us, belonging to over a hundred ethnic groups, scattered over more than seven thousand islands, but we belong to one race Filipino. Each of us has a story to tell-- a story that will serve as one of the threads that weave the fabric of our identity as a people. Tell your stories here on LAHI.. |
